Overview
Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK's most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Geotechnical Engineer (Geophysicist) to support and enhance our project delivery team. You will be given support and guidance from the Geophysics Advisor in delivery, and work in collaboration with Geotechnical Engineers and other disciplines to develop and detail appropriate solutions adopting the principles of excellence in design. Your primary contribution will be to the ground investigation programme.
Responsibilities
* Undertake desk studies, ground investigations and GI site supervision
* Check the contractor\'s Factual Report and produce the Interpretative report
* Work with the relevant lead team members to ensure that all technical deliverables are properly checked and approved
* A willingness to travel and undertake field-based assignments including supervising GI contractors to ensure technical quality
* Ensure that the principles of design safety are incorporated in all designs
* Demonstrable field experience in a range of geophysical field techniques, such as, but not limited to, shallow seismics, electrical, electromagnetic and magnetic techniques
Qualifications
* A strong academic background with a relevant degree (MSc or equivalent geophysical experience)
* Experience with geophysical processing software such as Res2DInv, Seisimager, SurfSeis, Geolitix, and/or open-source applications
* Experience with geophysical and generic GIS visualization software (e.g., Oasis montaj, Leapfrog, Civils 3D, Paraview, etc.)
* Demonstrable field experience in a range of geophysical techniques
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate client needs, specify techniques for contractors, and communicate findings with non-geophysicists
* Proactive and with a practical nature
