Who are we?
Located in the heart of Manchester, The Union is part business, part charity, part membership body. Operating independently from Manchester Metropolitan University, our aim is to support and represent each one of our student members.
Our team of around 60 full-time and up to 150 part-time staff work alongside elected student leaders to support all aspects of student life. We are committed to supporting all 39,000 of our student members to achieve personal success.
We do this by running a variety of services, including sports clubs, societies, change campaigns, volunteering opportunities, student representation and an advice service. We also host events in our conferencing facilities and operate a bar, shop, pub and coffee shop, as well as a range of social spaces and bookable study rooms.
The Union is one of 550 students unions across the country. And were one of the most exciting with over 39,000 student members and 100 student groups, a huge range of services and a bold strategy.
What's the job?
As Events Lead, youll design, plan and manage a wide range of events, ensuring smooth execution and high participant engagement. Youll manage event budgets and post-event evaluation and work with the communications team to ensure timely promotion.
Youll be part of the Business Development Team, which works collaboratively with colleagues across The Union to plan and deliver a varied, engaging and inclusive events programme for our diverse student community. Youll also plan and manage events for union staff, university staff and external audiences in support of The Unions strategic and operational goals.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with exceptional organisational skills and previous experience of working in event management, planning or another related role.
You will be comfortable working under pressure by balancing multiple tasks simultaneously.
You will be a great communicator who can work as part of a team with a wide variety of staff, students and stakeholders.
