United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) are seeking a highly motivated Estates Craftsperson (Mechanical/ Plumbing Bias) who will be based at Grantham Hospital. The post holder is required to play a proactive part within the Estates Technical team to meet Trust objectives in a safe, cost effective, efficient manner in compliance with legislation and good practice.

Main duties of the job

* Ensure that maintenance activities are effectively recorded, signed and dated appropriately and evidence based.
* Support and encourage multi-disciplinary working.
* Encourage team working in all aspects of team focused department performance.
* Provide a role model for others to emulate, working alongside colleagues and exhibiting high standards of professional behaviour.
* Challenge traditional practice, seeking improved methods of task delivery which improve quality, safety and working practices.
* Carry out duties in a safe, clean and effective way in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures, Legislative guidance, and best industry practice.
* Support the development of team roles through mentoring and shadowing, allowing the teams to learn from your skills.
* Maintain accurate records for reactive and planned activities.
* Excellent Communication Skills, Written and Verbal.
* Work on own initiative, to act independently and seek advice as necessary within the parameters of the expected work activities. Able to plan, organise and manage own work activities.
* Comply with relevant policies, guidance and statutory regulations.
* Able to work to agreed timescales.
* Able to Drive and have a Valid full UK driving License or applicable UK approved Driving License.

Person Specification


Qualifications Essential

* City and Guilds Qualification or equivalent
* NVQ Level 3
* Served an apprenticeship or other recognised training


Desirable

* Gas Safe registered
* Member of an Approved Plumber Scheme


Experience Essential

* Minimum 2 years experience


Desirable

* Experience gained in a hospital environment
* Experience with hot and cold water systems, Legionella and Pseudomonas Prevention and Chlorine Dioxide dosing equipment


Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes Essential

* In‑depth knowledge of Water Fittings Regulations and Bylaws
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Flexible Approach
* Good communication - written and oral
* Good IT skills
* Leadership qualities
