Overview
An incredibly exciting opportunity has arisen for a part‑time Band 7 Midwife to shape the future of midwifery practice within Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust, based at the UHL site. The successful candidate will join and be supported by the established cross‑site midwifery education team as a Clinical Practice Facilitator at University Hospital Lewisham on a 12‑month secondment, in a job‑share arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
* Be a highly visible role model for clinical education, an expert practitioner and change agent promoting a learning environment across all areas of the midwifery service;
* Provide practical, clinical training and support to student midwives and their practice supervisors;
* Support and improve clinical learning for return‑to‑practice midwives and undergraduate students, whilst reducing attrition rates;
* Develop midwives in their roles as teachers and assessors, ensuring students are fit for purpose at the point of qualifying;
* Ensure a quality learning environment;
* Maintain relationships with local higher‑education institutions, representing the Trust at meetings, participating in interviews, encouraging midwives’ involvement with HEI activities and liaising regularly with link lecturers.
Qualifications
* Highly experienced midwife with a passion for midwifery;
* A commitment to upholding professional standards and safeguarding the profession;
* Conversant with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Health Education England (HEE) education pathways, plans and strategies;
* Extensive knowledge of applying evidence‑based theory to practice and experience practising across a variety of areas, to support the development and educational needs of student midwives.
