We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and organised individual to join our Head & Neck Department as an Assistant Medical Secretary.

In this role, you will provide essential administrative and audio‑typing support primarily with Maxillofacial Surgery & Ear, Nose and Throat. You will also assist typing and preparation of correspondence for Surgical specialties, including Plastic Surgery, Orthodontics and Restorative Dentistry.


Responsibilities

* Provide accurate audio typing and prepare clinical correspondence.
* Support Medical Secretaries across the wider Head & Neck Department.
* Print, process and distribute patient result letters, ensuring timely delivery to the post room.
* Manage general administrative and office duties to support the smooth running of the service.
* Demonstrate strong organisational skills and prioritise a busy workload effectively.
* Work confidently and efficiently without direct supervision.
* Maintain regular communication with the medical secretary team.
* Uphold high standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all tasks.
* Engage in available training and development opportunities.
* Contribute positively to a supportive and motivated team, with flexible working options available where appropriate.
* Communicate effectively with patients maintaining a professional and confident telephone manner.


Qualifications

* Excellent administrative and audio‑typing skills, supported by relevant experience or qualifications.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
* Ability to prioritise a busy workload effectively.
* Work confidently and efficiently without direct supervision.
* Maintain regular communication and confidentiality.
* Experience with NHS clinical administrative systems is desirable.
