Job Description:
The College seeks a Carpentry Apprenticeship Trainer responsible for delivering vocational study programmes, maintaining high-quality teaching standards, managing day-to-day operational issues, exams, and timetabling, and ensuring consistency across sites. The role involves inspiring students through outstanding teaching, motivating them to achieve their best.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
The following outlines the primary duties expected of this role, as directed by your line manager:
1. Deliver high-quality teaching and assessments in vocational areas, prepare teaching materials, develop curricula, and conduct quality assurance activities. Assess student work, monitor progress, and communicate with stakeholders, maintaining statutory responsibilities such as safeguarding and health and safety.
2. Manage daily course operations, including communication, problem-solving, timetable adjustments, and coordination with departments like Exams and MIS to ensure compliance and consistency.
3. Visit students at workplaces, set skill development targets, monitor progress, and assess competency according to NVQ criteria.
4. Assist with student recruitment, manage enrolments, and organize induction programmes to ensure proper registration and course placement.
5. Conduct student meetings, set and review SMART targets, support with UCAS references, and address pastoral needs, liaising with college services as needed.
6. Monitor attendance and results, administer course performance data, and develop action plans to improve retention and achievement.
7. Promote English and Maths support, monitor attendance, and facilitate student movement to these lessons.
8. Participate in meetings and events, including staff and employer meetings, and contribute to college review processes.
9. Collaborate with colleagues to develop courses and training methods, attend CPD events, and mentor staff.
10. Support departmental administration, including attendance tracking, report generation, and participation in quality assurance activities.
