Quantity Surveyor - Northampton
Up to £80,000 per annum.
Our client is a leading Civil Engineering and Building Contractor specialising in Infrastructure and Groundworks within the residential sector. They are looking for a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join their Northampton Commercial Team.
Responsibilities include project management across the East Midlands and Northern Home Counties.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Regular site visits and liaison with the production team.
* Preparation and review of tenders with estimators, providing value engineering advice.
* Early cost advice to clients on variations, ensuring only authorised variations are undertaken.
* Technical advice on drawings and ensuring correct documentation for each project.
* Managing end‑to‑end commercial aspects of assigned projects to maximise value; collaboration with Finance and Procurement departments.
* Ensuring all commercial accountabilities are undertaken in a timely, accurate manner.
* Analysis of rates, prices, variations and compensation events.
* Identification and analysis of potential debt risks and negotiation of financial reconciliation with third parties.
* Forecasting monthly and annual profit figures, maintaining them throughout the project lifetime.
* Understanding safety principles on sites and projects; supporting the safety director and team in policy application.
* Addressing safety concerns immediately with safety team and directors.
* Building strong working relationships with clients, including social networking.
* Allocating work to subcontractors and assisting with procurement when required.
Requirements
* Relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
* Experience working on groundwork or civil infrastructure projects.
* Excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated high confidentiality.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
* Ability to gather and analyse information skilfully.
* Highly motivated and willing to work hard.
