Job Summary
In this role, you will set and operate CNC milling machines and Surface Grinders in the manufacture and repair of elastomer & plastic moulds, press-tools and other tooling components.
You will demonstrate a proactive mindset for process development, assist in increasing automation and utilisation of equipment, support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities, whilst supporting colleagues and Managers to meet quality, delivery and cost objectives.
You will comply with the company’s safety, environmental and quality policies at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Set & Operate CNC milling machines (3 & 4 axis)
2. Set & Operate CNC/NC surface grinders
3. Carry out in process Quality Inspections and rectify/escalate Quality issues
4. Comply with all corporate and local site Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures and regulations
5. Comply with all machine instructions and ensure proper use of equipment and assets
6. Comply with all process work instructions, control plans, maintenance and safety schedules
7. Read, understand & interpret Engineering drawings correctly
8. Act in accordance with the Company’s Code of Conduct and Guiding Principles
9. Report any near miss accidents, incidents or HSE irregularities
10. Carry out HSE and Workplace Inspections
11. Ensure that your work area(s) are always kept clean and tidy
12. Ensure your PPE is used and maintained correctly
13. Demonstrate a proactive mindset for process development
14. Ensure maximum machine efficiency through effective prioritization and use of machine automation
15. Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities
16. Support the business in meeting all quality, delivery and cost objectives
17. Report issues, problems or irregularities beyond your control to the appropriate person or via the LDMS escalation process
18. Other duties as assigned
Education
19. Required: Formal engineering apprenticeship to NVQ3 level/City and Guilds or equivalent relevant work experience
Work Experience
20. No min required 0 - 2 years of relevant work experience required
21. Prior manufacturing experience in an industrial setting (pharmaceutical industry experience preferred) required
22. Experience with using SolidWorks and AutoCAD required
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
23. Required: Experience in setting & operation of CNC equipment Familiarity and experience in on-machine programming Familiarity and experience of use of measuring equipment Familiarity and experience of interpreting Engineering drawings Familiarity and experience of modern cutting tools and techniques Experience and conversant PC user Desirable: Experience in Fanuc machine tool controls Experience in multi-axis machine tools Experience in elastomer mould, plastic mould and press-tool manufacture Experience in conventional toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, surface grinders) Knowledge of other toolroom machinery (cylindrical grinders, EDM, WEDM) Experience in automation processes & database managed machine tools Experience of “Lean Manufacturing” techniques Experienced in Offline programming & part verification
