Relief Bike Mechanic – Live Life Outdoors, Aberdeenshire Council
Live Life Outdoors, part of Live Life Aberdeenshire/Aberdeenshire Council, is recruiting experienced Bicycle Mechanics to join its Cycle Programme on a relief basis. The role will support the wider Outdoor Team and ensure high‑level service delivery to the council’s bike fleet, school fleets across Aberdeenshire, and partner organisations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide on‑site maintenance and repairs for bicycles across North, Central and South Aberdeenshire.
* Respond to service requests using locally available resources and support the central Cycle Workshop in Inverurie.
* Maintain service levels for all assigned fleet, ensuring safety and reliability.
* Implement a “Hub and Spoke” approach to service delivery, aligning with the council’s legal responsibilities for outdoor activities.
* Demonstrate continuous improvement and quality service delivery for the benefit of the Council and its partners.
* Be available Monday‑Friday during school day hours as required by the programme.
Key Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Bicycle Mechanic with a robust skill set in maintenance and repair.
* At least one reference from a current or recent employer.
* Eligibility to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or the ability to undertake a PVG update check.
* Availability to work throughout the year, including weekends and public holidays as needed.
Legal & Regulatory Requirements
* This role is regulated work involving children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
* A confirmed offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory outcomes of the PVG Scheme and, where applicable, an overseas criminal record check.
