Your new role
This position involves collaborating with a team of six ecologists, either from an office or home setting. It offers a balanced mix of office duties and fieldwork, which may require very rare overnight stays during the week. The role presents ample opportunities to build client relationships through various social and networking events, making it ideal for someone looking to establish long-term client connections.
This position is ideal for someone eager to gain aprehensive understanding of the property sector. It offers the opportunity to collaborate with planning and residential agents on projects from inception through to construction and long-term management. Additionally, the role is particularly appealing if you want to support the implementation of protected species mitigation after consents are granted.
Responsibilities
1. Project Management - co-ordination of field surveys, managing project budgets, supporting with client liaison and consultations with statutory and non-statutory consultees.
2. Desk studies – coordinating and assessing existing ecological information produced by the team.
3. Ecological field surveys and coordinating junior members of staff and supporting improving in-field data collection techniques.
4. Supporting with assessment of the impacts of proposed developments, developing rmendations for the mitigation of ecological impacts and devising monitoring schemes.
5. Good understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain and the use of DEFRA metric
6. Production of survey reports, drafting Environmental Statement chapters and other documents to support planning.
7. Supporting senior members of staff by attending meetings.
8. General administrative / management tasks relating to project quality, environmental issues, and health and safety (including risk assessment), and marketing.
What you'll need to succeed
9. Experience of working within a planning or environmental consultancy
10. Strong project management skills/experinece
11. A relevant degree preferable and working towards full member of CIEEM
12. Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and data collection.
13. Knowledge of plant or animal groups and working towards a specialism
14. You may have a particular ecological specialism or hold protected species licence/s.
15. Excellentmercial and project management skills
16. Full driving license.
