1:1 SEND Support Assistant – All-Through Special School with Residential Provision
Location: Northumberland area
Salary: £89–£103 per day
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

Protocol Education are working with an all-through specialist provision in Northumberland that supports children and young people aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of additional needs including Autism, Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), communication difficulties, and physical and sensory impairments. The school also offers residential provision for some learners and takes a holistic, child-centred approach.
We are seeking a calm, adaptable and proactive 1:1 Support Assistant to join the team in supporting a pupil who requires consistent and individualised care to engage in learning, manage emotional regulation, and develop life skills.
What you’ll be doing:
* Working 1:1 with a pupil throughout the day to provide emotional, behavioural, and academic support
* Assisting with personal care and daily routines where necessary
* Promoting independence, inclusion, and communication
* Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to follow EHCP targets and support plans
* Helping create a safe and predictable environment for learning and development

* Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism, SEMH, or complex needs
* A consistent, calm, and compassionate approach
* Confidence with communication strategies and behaviour management techniques
* Flexibility and a strong sense of teamwork

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
