Social worker

Selby
North Yorkshire Council
Social worker
€40,000 - €60,000 a year
Posted: 15 May
Offer description

Our Family Assessment and Support Teams work with a range of children, their families, carers, and networks. This includes children in need, those subject to child protection plans, and cases requiring public law proceedings.

A good understanding of relevant legislation, practice, and court processes is essential. In NYC, we offer extensive training and learning opportunities to support your ongoing professional development. This includes our defined practice model, Systemic, Signs of Safety, and Family Seeing/Network training.

We have high aspirations for our young people and strive to work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families, recognizing the importance of their support networks.

The role is diverse; no two days are the same. You might spend one day completing words and pictures with a family, and the next supporting a young person with complex needs. We work with young people from birth to 18, maintaining strong links with external agencies and teams in North Yorkshire.

The team comprises a Team Manager, Practice Supervisors, and dedicated business support, enabling Social Workers to spend more time with children, young people, and families. We have a well-defined supervision policy, including regular group and individual supervisions, practice model sessions, and opportunities for appreciative inquiry and practice discussions with our Principal Social Worker.

We adopt creative approaches to working with families; no two plans look the same. Supported by new technology, our Social Workers can focus more on direct work with young people rather than administrative tasks.

We seek Social Workers with at least two years of post-qualifying experience and a proactive, child-focused attitude. We welcome applications from newly qualified or soon-to-be qualified candidates.

Be the change you trained to be.

For an informal conversation, please contact Lis Grimshaw, Team Manager, at Lis.Grimshaw@northyorks.gov.uk, or Vicki Grier, Team Manager, at Vicki.Grier@northyorks.gov.uk.

For more information about a career in Social Work and our opportunities, contact Samantha Clayton, Head of Effective Practice & QA, at Samantha.Clayton@northyorks.gov.uk. We support aspiring Qualified Social Workers.

Visit www.northyorks.gov.uk/childrenssocialworker to learn more about our service, practice model, team, leadership, and opportunities.

We welcome individuals considering relocation; please see our Relocation Policy for details.

We look forward to hearing from you.
