Castlegate& Derwent Surgery is currently recruiting a GP Assistant on behalf of Cockermouth & Maryport PCN, a network of two GPpractices. This role combines clinical and administrative skills whilst working collaboratively to look after the health and wellbeing of ourlocal population.

Main duties of the job
We are lookingfor a highly motivated individual who will work as part of a multi-disciplinaryteam to provide support across the practice/PCN in:
1. Completing simple clinical observations, investigations & support
2. Youwill have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skillstogether with a good working knowledge of primary care and the challengesfacing patient care in the NHS.
3. Your hours will include Extended Access Working outside of normal surgery hours 18:30-20:00 once weekly on a 3-week pattern and Saturday working 09:00-17:00 on a 4-week rota is required

We have 7 GPpartners working closely with 7 salaried GPs and a dedicated Practice teamwhich includes a Paramedic, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a team of PracticeNurses, Treatment room Nurses, GPAs, Social Prescriber and Care Coordinatorsand are supported by Admin and Reception staff.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Summary:
A GPA role combines the clinical skills of a Health Care Assistant (HCA) with the administrative skills required to support the smooth running of clinics.
Main duties/Key tasks:
4. Completing simple clinical observations /investigations as directed locally, such as dipstick urine, taking blood pressure, ECG, phlebotomy
5. Supporting the GP with immunisations/wound care
6. Take basic readings in readiness for a GP appointment;
7. Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes
8. Dealing with routine clinical post directly DNA letters, 2WW etc.
9. Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments for patients
10. Processing and following up referrals as required
11. Work alongside wider practice and PCN teams who support GP administration to ensure a joined up approach and communication
