We are a diverse, inclusive and enthusiastic team of Project, Commercial and Design Managers working in the Rail sector, focussed on delivering solutions for our clients. As a Senior Project Manager at WSP in the PMCM Rail team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of complex rail projects of regional, national, and international significance. You will ensure that the projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

Our Senior Project Managers are proactive leaders who manage requirements, budgets, schedules, and risks, and influence others to achieve successful outcomes. They possess strong technical skills, communicate effectively, and are problem-solvers willing to take on new challenges. We collaborate closely with external clients and multidisciplinary teams, utilizing WSP offices, client offices, and site locations for strategic project delivery.

A Little More About Your Role…

* Coordinate disciplines through meetings and workshops to resolve issues timely, ensuring safety, functional, and regulatory compliance.
* Establish processes and procedures for project management in conjunction with the client’s team.
* Act as the principal client contact, ensuring their needs are met throughout design and construction.
* Develop and manage client relationships through effective communication.
* Prepare monthly project reports and data scenarios for senior management.
* Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and community groups.
* Facilitate project meetings, presentations, and progress reports.
* Manage contracts in line with NEC3/4 rules.
* Oversee project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
* Manage changes, delays, and project risks, and improve project management processes.
* Identify and mitigate design and construction risks, and manage RFIs, warnings, and communications.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

* Leadership in safety, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations.
* Conduct activities safely and responsibly, adhering to standards.
* Define project scope, goals, and deliverables with stakeholders.
* Create detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk strategies.
* Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to plans and schedules.
* Proactively address issues and implement corrective actions.
* Drive innovative solutions and incorporate new technologies to improve performance.
* Hold a degree in engineering or management discipline.
* Chartered membership or nearing status in a relevant professional body preferred.
* Certifications such as APM, MSP, PMI, PRINCE2, or Six Sigma beneficial.
* 10+ years of project management experience, including technical and project controls.
* Experience with major projects, client-side delivery, and rail industry organizations like Network Rail, HS2, TfGM.
* Proven success in managing multidisciplinary workstreams.
* Curiosity, solution-focus, and responsiveness to client needs.
* NEC4 Project Manager accreditation preferred.
