Job Purpose
* To provide effective leadership and supervision to a pod of social workers within the Children Looked After team, ensuring high-quality, relationship-based practice that supports children under 16 with long-term foster care or adoption plans. The role is central to achieving positive outcomes for children by fostering stability, safety, and emotional well-being through consistent and reflective social work practice.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
* Lead, support, and supervise a pod of social workers, ensuring manageable caseloads (14–16 children per full-time worker).
* Provide regular, reflective supervision that emphasises the importance of strong, trusting relationships between social workers and children.
* Monitor and ensure the quality and timeliness of assessments, care plans, and statutory visits.
* Support the professional development of team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
* Work collaboratively with the Team Manager and Service Manager to deliver service improvements and meet statutory responsibilities.
Essential Experience Required
* Substantial post-qualification experience in children’s social care, ideally within a looked-after children or safeguarding setting.
* Proven experience in supervising or mentoring social workers or students.
Essential Qualification Required
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
* Registration with Social Work England.
Additional Information
* Working hours: 37 hours per week
* Enhanced DBS is required for this role.
* Hybrid working - 3 days per week in office
