The Band 8A Sexual Health Matron provides senior clinical leadership, professional oversight and operational management for Sexual Health Services, ensuring the safe, effective and compassionate delivery of open access sexual health and HIV care across sites. The role is accountable for clinical governance, safeguarding, workforce leadership and quality improvement, working in partnership with medical, managerial and commissioning colleagues to maintain high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance and service performance within a complex environment.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide senior clinical and professional leadership for Sexual Health Services, ensuring high quality, safe and compassionate care across all clinic sites.
2. Hold accountability for clinical governance, patient safety and safeguarding, ensuring compliance with national guidance, Trust policies and commissioning requirements.
3. Lead and support the nursing and health advising workforce, including workforce planning, recruitment, appraisal, supervision, performance management and staff wellbeing.
4. Provide visible leadership within clinical areas, promoting a positive safety culture, professional standards and continuous quality improvement.
5. Work in partnership with medical, operational and commissioning colleagues to deliver service objectives, manage risk and support service development.
6. Oversee incident management, complaints, audits and learning, ensuring actions are implemented and improvements embedded.
7. Ensure effective infection prevention and control, environmental safety and regulatory compliance across clinics.
8. Support service transformation, workforce development and succession planning in line with Trust and Care Group priorities.
