Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions. Functioning in lieu of or alongside a physician, it is essential to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
Responsibilities
* Examining and treating patients
* Taking patients’ medical histories
* Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
* Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
* Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
* Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
* Educating and counseling patients
* Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
* Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
* Work shifts will be assigned to the provider (four, eight, or twelve hours per shift) by an authorized GoHealth Urgent Care representative
* All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
* 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required
* Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required
* Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
* National Certification
* Active state medical licensure
* Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting
* Applicable office procedures including suturing, splinting, etc.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
* Electronic Medical Records knowledge and experience
* Strong listening skills and attentiveness
* Strong communication and customer service skills
