Hays Health & Safety are recruiting for a permanent Health & Safety Manager to join a well-established H&S and Sustainability team within a large,plex organisation with around 45 buildings across multiple sites.
This is a fire‑focused specialist role, with additional responsibility for supporting facilities management and construction / refurbishment projects. Day‑to‑day FM delivery is managed by an external provider, allowing this role to focus on oversight,pliance and specialist advice.
Key Responsibilities
1. Act as thepetent person for fire safety across the estate
2. Lead and manage the fire risk assessment programme and associated action plans
3. Provide specialist advice on fire safety legislation, standards and best practice
4. Oversee the asbestos management arrangements, including contractor management
5. Support construction and FM activity, including CDMpliance
6. Investigate incidents and provide pragmatic, proportionate solutions
7. Work closely with senior stakeholders while maintaining a positive, collaborative safety culture
Essential Requirements
8. Level 6 Health & Safety qualification (desirable)
9. Recognised fire safety qualification
10. Third‑party certified Fire Risk Assessor / Auditor
11. Asbestos Management qualification (Desirable)
12. Significant H&S experience within a large, multi‑site environment
13. Strongmunicator — practical, approachable, not overly regimented
Experience within higher education, local authority, NHS or similar public‑sector estates would suit this role particularly well.
The Package
14. A salary of between £47,000 - £55,000 (DOE)
