Overview

Enforcement Case Lawyer at Financial Reporting Council (FRC). This role is part of the Enforcement Division, the independent disciplinary body for the accountancy and actuarial professions in the UK. The division undertakes complex professional disciplinary investigations and prosecutions involving accountants, accountancy firms and actuaries that raise important public-interest issues in the UK.

Hybrid working arrangement; based in Birmingham with occasional travel to London. Some travel may be required for the role.


Responsibilities

* Lead case teams comprising forensic accountants, junior lawyers, and legal assistants.
* Collaborate within case teams on larger and more complex matters, including with senior lawyers and external staff.
* Provide high-quality advice and analysis on legal and policy aspects of cases and Enforcement Division work.
* Plan and assist more senior lawyers with case strategy and project management; drive investigations forward.
* Work with forensic accountants to review complex accounting, actuarial, and audit material.
* Analyze information and evidence to evaluate cases.
* Instruct and work closely with counsel, independent experts, and external solicitors.
* Lead or assist with preparation for Tribunal hearings.
* Oversee and assist with case expenditure and budgeting.
* Manage, supervise, and develop junior team members.


Location and travel

This role is based in our Birmingham Office. Some travel to our London Office will be required from time to time.


Qualifications and experience

Solicitor or barrister qualified to practise in England & Wales (or another Common Law jurisdiction with demonstrable UK experience) with significant litigation/disputes experience and/or experience of contentious regulatory law (typically more than six years).
