Were looking for a dynamic and strategic Third-Party Haulage Manager to join our Cement, Packed Products & Powders business. In this pivotal role, youll ensure our third-party haulage partners consistently deliver high levels of service, operate safely, and remain cost-effective. Youll be the driving force behind a robust logistics network that supports our operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities In this role, you will:
Manage third-party logistics providers to ensure safe operations, service excellence, and budget adherence
Monitor and optimise contracts, SLAs, and performance metrics
Act as the central liaison between operating sites, commercial teams, and support functions
Ensure haulage models flex effectively during peak seasons and align with internal stakeholders
Lead periodic reviews and tenders to maintain optimal haulage partnerships
Champion haulier safety engagement programmes with short, medium, and long-term strategies
Support network optimisation reviews to maintain agility and responsiveness
Build strategic relationships with hauliers and develop a reliable network of ad hoc resources
Key Characteristics To thrive in this role, you should be:
Knowledgeable in road transport and SHEQ legislation
A self-starter with strong independence and initiative
Highly numerate and literate with excellent attention to detail
Familiar with modern vehicle standards and logistics IT tools (e.g., EPOD, scheduling, optimisation)
Skilled in balancing complex decisions and risk-benefit analysis
Well-connected in the transport and logistics industry
Organised and capable of managing change programmes
Financially astute with strong cost management capabilities
Customer-focused with a drive to add value
Collaborative, influential, and resilient
Key Functional Competencies You possess the following:
Expertise in national road transport of bulk powders and general haulage
Proven experience managing third-party transport partners
Strong contract management capabilities
Broad supply chain and logistics knowledge, with examples of best practice implementation
Experience / Education It is desirable that applicants will have:
Business degree level qualification or equivalent
Relevant Supply Chain & Logistics degree level qualification
Transport Certificate of Professional Competence
Chartered Membership of Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport
