We are currently recruiting for Swim Instructors to join our team at Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Ballymoney
Shift pattern Monday - Friday between 9am - 3pm
Main Purpose of Post
1. The post holder will be responsible for the design and delivery of comprehensive, efficient, customer focused school swimming programme at a Type 1 Leisure facilities (and other agreed locations/special events) as required, in line with the needs of the service.
2. The post holder will be involved in the instruction, supervision and control of those taking part in classes and/or activities, always enforcing Health and Safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
3. The post holder will be required to positively support management and colleagues and assist in the provision of customer focused service delivery.
4. The post holder will be flexible to provide cover in any related duty within Sport & Wellbeing and will be required to work flexibly across and throughout the Council area, ensuring that resources are deployed effectively, in order to respond to service priorities and to facilitate professional development.
5. Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
6. Assist the Duty Officer with the organisation and delivery of the Centre's School Swimming programme.
7. Carry out swimming instruction in accordance with an accredited swimming governing body swim syllabus, including compiling course records and lesson plans, and providing written reports as required.
8. Ensure that adequate stocks of badges, certificates, promotional items and swimming aids required for the swimming programmes are maintained and keep stock control records of same.
9. Ensure compliance with the site-specific emergency action plan and standard operating procedures.
10. Ensure that Council policies and procedures on child protection and vulnerable adults are always adhered to.
11. Responsible for ensuring accidents / incidents are dealt with efficiently and promptly while accurately recording related details. Inform line manager(s) of all such incidents.
12. Report any defects or damage to equipment or buildings to appropriate personnel in order to ensure problems are dealt with and do not pose a risk to other employees and/or customers.
13. Liaise positively with individuals, schools, clubs and other organisations as required to deliver a quality service which meets the needs of customer and the needs of the service.
14. Assist the Duty Officer with promotion and administrative duties associated with the post.
15. Maintain a high standard of customer care, including providing feedback to customers, and providing a first-line response to complaints, in line with Centre procedures. Make line manager aware of customer feedback/complaints.
Essential Criteria
16. A recognised Level 2 Swimming Teachers Qualification ie Swim Ireland or STA Swimming Instructor
and
17. Minimum of two years experience teaching swimming
