Test Engineer - Hexham Jackson Hogg is delighted to be recruiting a motivated and versatile Test Engineer for an award-winning engineering business based in Hexham, specialising in making hazardous environments safer. Our client delivers challenging projects across three core areas: engineering consultancy, bespoke equipment design and build, and testing services. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong technical capability. You will design, develop, and deliver bespoke test equipment and services, while also contributing to broader consultancy and investigative engineering projects. The role offers exposure to all stages of project execution, from concept and design through to build, commissioning, and testing, within a small, collaborative, and highly skilled team. Key Responsibilities: * Design test equipment and test rigs to client specifications. * Produce engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation. * Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and internal approval processes. * Support projects from proposal through to delivery. * Represent the company at client and supplier meetings. * Produce engineering consultancy reports, test reports, and surveys. * Participate in fitting, construction, commissioning, and testing in the workshop. * Provide technical guidance to technicians, fitters, and engineers during assemblies and testing. Skills & Experience: * Minimum 2 years’ experience in a relevant design engineering discipline, or a BEng (or higher) in a related field. * Strong planning, organisational, and project management skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing, presentations, and negotiation. * Ability to work collaboratively, motivate others, and contribute effectively within a small team. * Experience in heavy engineering industries is highly desirable.
