Electrician – Glasgow (Onsite)
Location: Glasgow, Govan and Scotstoun. Must be able to attend a recruitment day in Glasgow.
Salary: £38,662 plus 33% shift allowance where applicable.
Shift Pattern: Days – Mon‑Thurs 07:00‑16:30; Nights – Mon‑Thurs 20:30‑06:00; Weekends – Fri‑Sun 07:00‑19:30.
Requirements
* Modern Apprenticeship / Trade Papers – must be provided when submitting your application.
* Ability to attend a recruitment day in Glasgow.
Responsibilities
* Installation of a variety of cables (multi‑core, single core and coaxial) and electrical systems (junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers, switches, etc.).
* Cable termination and installation of all electrical equipment.
* Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
* Collaborate with shipbuilding teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of electrical installations.
* Ensure all work complies with safety and quality standards.
Core Duties / Qualifications
* Completed a Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3) or equivalent trade qualification and hold a SJIB card.
* Experience working in marine installations or major industrial environments.
* Familiarity with risk assessments, PUWER, COSHH and safe working requirements.
* Ability to read and follow trade drawings, electrical schematics and technical instructions.
* Understanding of tag‑out processes and conducting safe proving‑dead procedures.
* Skill in mounting electrical equipment, earthing components and completing cable terminations to trade standards.
Security & Vetting
* All applicants must achieve at least the Baseline Personnel Security Standard.
* Roles may require higher levels of National Security Vetting, typically with 5–10 years of continuous UK residency.
* Many roles are subject to security and export control restrictions that may limit eligibility based on nationality and place of birth.
