Core Duties
* Provide urgent dental care for patients who have been unable to access treatment with a general dental practitioner following a triage process, to include but not limited to the following: undertake comprehensive assessments, diagnosis and treatment planning including any required special investigations.
* Provision of treatment to address the presenting complaint in line with NHS guidelines for urgent treatment, where possible within the allocated appointment or plan for the treatment to be completed.
* Complete referrals for ongoing care for patients where necessary.
* Complete high-quality contemporaneous digital records.
* Provide immediate care in the case of a medical emergency.
* Provide leadership to the immediate team including dental nurse and reception staff in cases where the management team is unavailable or not on site.
* Hold responsibility for securing the building at the end of the clinical session.
* General provision of services on more than one site as dictated by service requirements.
* Take part in personal development and appraisal.
* Take part in clinical audit, peer review and any other clinical governance requirements as required.
* Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development and mandatory training relevant to the requirements of the service.
* Work with children and vulnerable adults, requiring a DBS check.
* Maintain a safe working environment complying with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Care Quality Commission and the policies of Livewell Southwest.
