Job responsibilities
Dutiesand Responsibilities:
* Toassist with the administrative function of the surgical team including theaccurate documentation of records. To assist with the administrative functionof the surgical team including the accurate documentation of records.
* Toassist the scrub nurse and surgeon during surgical procedures and to accepttraining towards assisting surgeons in a scrub nurse role.
* Monitoringand recording base line clinical observations.
* MRSAscreening as required.
* Providepost-operative advice to patients
* Ensurespecimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessarypaperwork completed
* Toassist with ensuring that clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reportingany problems to the theatre manager or nurse in charge.
* Ensuresharps bins are secure and ready for collection.
* Toattend satellite units as required
* Toparticipate in audit where appropriate and requested
* Participatein the administrative and professional responsibilities of the surgical team
* Assistthe senior nurse to ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations andtreatments are recorded in the patients notes
* Ensurethe accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient.
* Assistthe nursing team to ensure collection and maintenance of statisticalinformation required for regular and ad hoc reports
* Attendand participate in surgical team meetings as required
* Toassist with the restocking and maintenance of clinical areas and consultingrooms
* Toassist in the management of surgical records and appointment systems
* Tofulfil any additional duties as reasonably requested and required ie checkingthe resus trolley, ordering, stocktake
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working within a nursing team
* Experience of working in an operating theatre environment.
Qualifications
* Educated to a good GCSE standard
* Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
* Completed Care Certificate
