An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for a motivated, outcome driven and dynamic person to join the Benefits Service as a Benefits Assistant.
The post holder will assist the Processing Team Manager in providing a high-quality service which ensures the Council meets its statutory and legal requirements.
The Benefits Assistant will ensure that all work undertaken is in accordance with law, regulations and guidelines and handled as promptly and efficiently as possible.
The successful candidate will provide clerical support and undertake interrogation of computer records including basic updating in a team of staff dealing with benefit claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit in accordance with appropriate legislation, office procedures in order to deliver a quality service to claimants and to achieve the appropriate performance indicators.
You will ideally have experience or familiarity in the following:
* Experience of working within a clerical/administrative environment
* Experience of computer use including data entry
* Effective written, organisational & numerical communication skills

Your role will encompass day-to-day administration of Council Tax billing and benefits processes, whilst seeking to promote efficiency and continuous improvement.
The successful person will be expected to make a valuable contribution to the effectiveness and continued improvement and success of the service by regularly contributing ideas, suggestions and feedback to the Team Manager and at appropriate meetings or workshops.
