Were currently recruiting for a Graduate Underwriting Assistant to join a well-established underwriting team based in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a respected organisation that specialises in legal indemnity insurance and supports major property and finance transactions across the UK.
In this role, you'll be working closely with experienced Underwriters, gaining hands-on experience across a range of tasks. Youll help review and summarise legal and property-related documents, handle new business enquiries, liaise with clients and brokers, and assist with policy wordings. Over time, youll build a strong understanding of legal indemnity risks and develop the confidence to assess complex scenarios, contribute to underwriting decisions and support high-value cases.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Gathering and preparing information to support underwriting decisions
Communicating with clients and brokers via phone and email
Assisting with drafting and reviewing policy wordings
Keeping internal systems up to date and accurate
Building strong working relationships with solicitors, clients and intermediaries

To be successful in this role, you will need:
A recent degree (2:1 or above) in law, insurance, business or a property-related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and analytical abilities
The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
A commercially aware, client-focused mindset
A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn
