“Parkview” is an exciting project to enable a young man to leave a learning disability assessment and treatment inpatient service, to lead a fulfilling life in his own home.

We are looking to recruit an innovative, resilient and forward-thinking Team Leader to support the opening of his newly renovated home in Felixstowe. Matthew loves to be busy and active, getting out and about in the local community. Routine and structure is important for this gentleman as well as predictability to ensure that he can live his best life. He enjoys interacting with people who are energetic, pro-active and will banter with him.

It is important that individuals are assisted to be as independent as possible, making sure they are at the heart of any decision making. We work with a person centred and creative approach so that people are enabled to live the life they choose.

Other than leadership duties, you will occasionally provide hands-on support when required – this means you will need to be a driver, happy to support in a variety of settings, including in-reach work prior to Matthew’s discharge.


Location

Postcode IP11 – Trimley, St Mary which offers free parking and good access to local transport, however in the initial stages you will be learning about Matthew alongside his hospital staff team, located IP3 8LY.


Hours

Full time 39 hours per week.


About you


Qualifications

It is essential that you have experience providing support to adults with Learning disabilities and Autism is essential. As well as knowledge of supporting people with challenging behaviour, working with their PBS plan and PBS practitioners to proactively support Matthew to have a good quality of life.


Responsibilities

* Provide robust leadership and management to a bespoke team of Support Workers, ensuring that the support delivered is of a high standard.
* Be confident in liaising with multidisciplinary teams of professionals, ensuring thorough record keeping and incident reporting. Work closely with the Service Coordinator to carry out all aspects of team management. We will provide extensive training and support in all aspects of the role and Matthew’s support needs.
* Work closely with Matthew’s family and advocates to ensure that his support is co-produced.
* Occasionally provide hands-on support when required; this may include driving and supporting in a variety of settings, including in-reach work prior to Matthew’s discharge.
* Lead in developing and delivering flexible and personalised support that meets the needs and aspirations of individuals.
* Demonstrate sensitivity, diplomacy and resilience when liaising with the people we support and their families.
* Lead in promoting community inclusion and participation and support staff to develop and grow.
* Manage flexible rotas and ensure coverage.


Qualifications (operational areas)

* Knowledge of autism and learning disabilities and Person Centred Active Support (PCAS).
* Experience of managing complex individuals that may present with challenging behaviour with a least restrictive approach, embracing positive risk taking.
* IT literacy and ability to communicate effectively and appropriately, both verbally and in writing.
* Knowledge of current CQC legislation relating to personal care regulated activity as well as a working knowledge of MCA principles and DoL’s.
* Knowledge of supporting people with challenging behaviour, working with PBS plans and PBS practitioners to proactively support Matthew to have a good quality of life.
* Be skilled in managing flexible rotas.
* Knowledge of promoting community inclusion and participation.
* Ability to build positive relationships with key stakeholders including Social Workers, Commissioners, families, specialist teams and health professionals.
* Demonstrate sensitivity, diplomacy and resilience when liaising with the people we support and their families.
* The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
