Development Manager at the Creative Core
An opportunity to join a leading interpretation design company creating visitor experiences for museums, heritage and culture. We are seeking a talented, driven, detail‑focused 3D Designer (Junior/Middleweight) to join our hand‑on multidisciplinary team, shaping creative projects from concept through to delivery.
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about people‑centred design, with an interest in heritage and cultural visitor experiences. You will be adept at generating high‑quality designs that balance creative engagement with real‑world practicality. You will be a team player with excellent communication skills, prepared to work collaboratively with different design disciplines, bringing a good understanding of production methods. You will be organised and responsive, with an eye for detail, able to handle multiple project workloads and deadlines. You will thrive in a dynamic studio environment, responding to different project requirements and design challenges.
Responsibilities
* Carry out project, subject and product‑specific research.
* Create moodboards, material palettes and finish schedules.
* Generate developed design proposals in response to a client brief, telling stories through structures, spaces and objects.
* Communicate design ideas through visuals, sketches, moodboards, models, digital drawings and renders.
* Contribute ideas for exhibit prototyping and testing in collaboration with in‑house interactive engineers.
* Work collaboratively with other design disciplines (graphic, interpretation content, interactive, AV multimedia, lighting, etc.)
* Prepare and present design proposals for internal and client team meetings.
* Carry out object surveys, case layouts and mount design.
* Generate small power, data and lighting plans.
* Generate technical design drawings where required.
* Provide art direction for manufacture and installation, working with in‑house teams (joinery, metalwork and graphic print) to develop effective specifications within budget to enable project delivery.
* Track drawing submissions, feedback and amends.
* General duties including attendance at internal and client meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, sourcing quotes, and collating information to support planning applications.

* Salary £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience.
* This role is full‑time at our studio in Dean Clough, a thriving mixed‑use mill complex in Halifax town centre. Potential for hybrid working arrangements in the future. You will also be required to travel for meetings and work on site.
