Electricity Distribution - Network Technician
A temporary opportunity is available for a Network Technician based at our offices in Grantham for up to 12 months, subject to review.
You will be accountable to the Team Manager for constructing, maintaining, and repairing the underground and overhead network up to 66kV. Additionally, you will be responsible for programming and monitoring immediate work colleagues, switching up to 66kV, issuing appropriate safety documentation, and handling other technician-related tasks.
Requirements include a grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both, along with a City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering.
*Note: The successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are completed.
Evidence of qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
Main Responsibilities
* Network operations, including issuing Limitations of Access and Permit to Work safety documents up to 66kV
* Construction of distribution substations, overhead line construction and alteration, installation of plant, and laying and jointing of cables up to 11kV
* Repair and replacement of faulty and obsolete plant, cables, and overhead lines
* Recording asset routes, details, and positions
Ideal Candidate
The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a small team, make on-the-spot decisions, communicate effectively, and be adaptable and resilient under pressure. Flexibility to undertake standby duties and training as an SAP is required, with mobility across the area.
If not already attained, the candidate may need to undertake a Level 3 City & Guilds 2339.
