Job Summary
To provide children's safeguarding support across the practices, working closely with clinicians, practice support staff and external agencies.This is a varied and demanding role requiring the job holder to possess first class interpersonal and organisational skills.You will be dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information on a day-to-day basis and will demonstrate the highest level of integrity.
The aim of this post is to improve coordination of care for vulnerable families in Erewash, reduce administrative burden on practices and GPs, strengthen connections between practices and improve regulatory compliance.
Please note this role is not a clinical role.
At all times the post holder is to behave in a professional way that encourages quality care, the development of a team spirit and fosters continual improvement across the PCN.

The post-holder will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required or directed in line with the main duties and level of the role to meet the changing needs of EHP and EPCN.
Key Job Responsibilities
1.Gather information to inform the assessment of risk when a concern is raised by a member of staff or advised to the practice by a partner agency.
2.Share children's safeguarding relevant information with other agencies in an agreed format and timely manner.
3.With the approval of the Lead GP, and oversight by the responsible GP:
* Partake in child case conferences.
* Attend Strategy meetings
* Provide Child protection Conference reports
4.Work alongside the practice manager and GP leads to:
* Coordinate and quality assure regular practice children's safeguarding meetings - Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs).
* Maintain and utilise children's safeguarding risk registers.
* Support the audit of practice children's safeguarding activities.
* Search clinical systems to identify children not brought to appointments.
* To improve data quality of recording of safeguarding concerns in the patient record
* Implement and assure practice policies and procedures that safeguard patients.
* Embed local and national safeguarding recommendations.
5.Form an important link between the practice and the Derbyshire Children's Safeguarding Board, to:
* Ensure effective collaboration with statutory safeguarding reviews.
* Partake in local safeguarding projects and pilots.
* Provide feedback to Derby & Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (DDICB) teams on how best to support practices.
6.Report to EHP Senior Leadership Team and working with the Safeguarding Lead to:
* Support the audit of EHP children's safeguarding activities.
* Implement and assure EHP policies and procedures that safeguard patients.
* Demonstrate above to CQC when required.
* Demonstrate a flexible attitude and be prepared to carry out other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time within the general character of the post or the level of responsibility of the role, ensuring that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
* Work in accordance with the EHP, PCN practice’s policies and procedures.
* Contribute to the wider aims and objectives of the PCN to improve and support primary care.
About Erewash Health Partnership (EHP)
Erewash Health Partnership (EHP) was established on 1 April 2018 and is a single GP Partnership comprising of eight constituent practices (see below).EHP employs approximately 250 people who work within the seven constituent practices and within the EHP central team, which provides support services e.g., finance, operational, data & performance etc.
As well as providing high quality core primary care services, EHP is the prime provider for delivering services to Erewash Primary Care Network (EPCN), as well as operating its own services for EHP Partners.
EHP is governed by the EHP Senior Leadership Team reporting to the EHP Board which meets quarterly. The Board currently consists of one GP Partner from each constituent practice and the EHP Managing Partner & CEO, with other colleagues in attendance.
Constituent Practices
EHP consists of seven GP constituent practices who are contracted to deliver primary care services to their registered patient population through a General Medical Services or Primary Medical Services contract.The practices range in size from approximately 3,500 patients to 19,000 patients.
Health & safety
The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others’ health, safety and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy, the practice Health & Safety manual, and the practice Infection Control policy and published procedures. This will include:
* Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines.
* Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks.
* Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.
* Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards.
* Actively reporting of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised.
* Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the post holder’s role.
* Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

* Ensure clear, concise, accurate and legible records and all communication is maintained in relation to care delivered adhering to local and national guidance.
* Ensure ability to manage electronic records system taking cognisance of need to protect access (ID, passwords, swipe cards)
Flexibility
Due to the still emerging nature of Primary Care PCNs and EHP the nature of this post will undoubtedly change. As such, flexibility is essential. The postholder is required to carry out any duties that may reasonably be requested by the Partners, Clinical Directors, or Senior Leadership Team.
