Are you passionate about customer service and looking for a role that’s filled with variety and challenge, working in a multicultural community? We are looking for enthusiastic, welcoming and customer-focussed people to join our Customer Services Team in University of Nottingham Libraries. To help deliver a full service, you will be required occasionally to work at different libraries across our Nottingham campuses. We know that having colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds is key to a good, supportive workplace and even better services. We are particularly keen to receive applications from those who are currently underrepresented in Libraries in the UK, such as racially minoritised people. As the first point of contact you will provide a warm welcome and a great customer experience both in-person and virtually.
Once you are trained in our library systems and facilities (including IT systems, printers and AV equipment), you will be ready to respond to a broad range of queries and requests from students, academic staff and visitors. You will also help students become familiar with our libraries and services at certain times of year, such as induction. You will be confident responding to a range of queries and situations which are sometimes unpredictable. Good communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team will be essential. You will be comfortable with a range of technology and able to pick up changes to our processes quickly. You will be keen to learn, developing your skills and sharing your knowledge to provide guidance and solutions. You will be able to demonstrate relevant experience working in a customer focused environment. These are part time, fixed term positions until 31 July 2026.
Each post has a specific timetable and applicants must be able to work all the hours as advertised per post. Please detail in additional information the posts that you want to apply for, listed in preference order.
Please note some training may occur outside these hours and it will include operating an evacuation chair down a staircase to respond to emergencies. You will also work one public holiday/University Closure Day per year.

Position 1
27 Hours Greenfield Medical Library Wednesday 1pm-6pm, Djanogly Learning Resource Centre Thursday 5pm-10m, Hallward Library Friday 5pm-10pm (4pm-9pm in vacation), Hallward Library Saturday 5pm-10pm (4pm-9pm in vacation), Hallward Library Sunday 9:30am-5:30pm.
Position 2
26.5 Hours Hallward Library Monday 9am-2pm, Djanogly Learning Resource Centre Tuesday 5:30pm-10pm, Djanogly Learning Resource Centre Friday 5pm-10m, Hallward Library Saturday 5pm-10pm (4pm-9pm in vacation), Hallward Library Sunday 9:30am-5:30pm.
