AI SOLUTION CONSULTANT
Working as part of a small technical team and reporting to the Head of Digital Design and Delivery, this role is responsible for the design and implementation of AI‑enabled solutions using Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio and Azure AI services.
The role supports the needs of Professional Services and student‑facing teams across the University by delivering practical, value‑driven AI tools that enhance operational efficiency, service quality and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Co‑design AI solutions with business stakeholders, defining requirements and translating them into robust, scalable implementations.
* Build generative AI agents, automations, natural‑language analytics tools and Copilot‑based workflows that address specific operational challenges across professional services teams.
* Support testing activities, provide expert AI advice and ensure solutions are delivered to a high standard aligned with the University’s strategic aims.
* Identify and review use cases to deliver the best return on investment.
* Refine requirements and design AI implementations in collaboration with operational teams to ensure alignment with business needs.
* Create prototypes and proofs‑of‑concept to assess feasibility and business value.
* Implement solutions using Copilot Studio, Copilot for M365 and Azure AI/Foundry in partnership with stakeholders.
* Assist team members with troubleshooting AI or automation issues.
* Develop reusable AI documentation and components such as prompt libraries, playbooks and blueprints.
* Maintain a structured, proactive work approach, balancing immediate priorities with long‑term change initiatives.
* Contribute technical expertise and business insight to collaborative work across IT Services.
* Ensure all work aligns with institutional policies and is compatible with existing systems.
* Perform other duties as required by the manager or as dictated by the changing needs of the University.
Required Skills & Experience
* Experience designing and implementing enterprise AI solutions that deliver productivity enhancements or user‑experience improvements in multiple organisations using Microsoft technologies.
* Relevant and recent AI‑related qualifications and/or certifications.
* Expertise in delivering, configuring and integrating Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform or Azure AI services.
* Ability to design, develop and implement AI‑enabled solutions in enterprise environments.
* Hands‑on skills building conversational agents, bots, automations or natural‑language data tools.
* Strong communication skills to translate complex AI concepts into simple language for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Ability to write clear technical and non‑technical documentation and create training materials to support solution delivery and knowledge sharing.
* Experience working within the software development lifecycle, including awareness of ITIL and Agile development methodologies and frameworks.
* Experience leading an AI portfolio of work across multiple delivery streams within a large organisation.
The role may be required to work at any of the locations at which the business of Royal Holloway is conducted.
