Registered Midwife (Preceptee)

These roles are for newly qualified Midwives, registered with the NMC, looking to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills as part of a proactive and supportive multi-professional team. We have some permanent posts and some fixed-term (1 year) posts available - please use this application for both. The roles will be based in the acute unit for the first 6 months, with potential opportunities within our Integrated teams. We are unable to support sponsorship applications at this time.

Role overview

We seek newly qualified Midwives, registered with the NMC, to join our proactive, supportive multi-professional team at Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Healthcare Trust - East, in Exeter. Successful candidates will participate in our 'Acorn to Oak' preceptorship program, in collaboration with preceptees in RDHU North, based in Barnstaple. Preceptorship study days will be held in Tiverton, with clinical experience in your designated units. Opportunities for additional clinical experience in each unit may be available upon request.

Some posts are fixed-term for the first year; if substantive posts become available during that time, they will be offered to fixed-term staff. Candidates are expected to complete the preceptorship program at the end of the year and transition to a Band 6 role.

The trust has a 6-month probation period.

Working Pattern: The role involves working days (07:30-20:30) and nights (20:00-08:00) on a rotational basis to meet service needs. Our Integrated teams also work 09:00-17:00 and occasionally 08:00-20:00. The position is for 30 to 37.5 hours per week.
