Description
:
1. Lead the environmental technical team across the programme.
2. Responsible for ensuring that designs and technical deliverables are provided on time and in collaboration with the wider team, including engineering disciplines.
3. Responsible for the programme’s EMR compliance and variation of environmental consents associated with the permanent design.
4. Management of environmental impacts of design changes as the project matures.
5. Ensure the environmental elements of the contractual requirements for handover have required information in place, ensuring the evidence is acceptable.
6. Work with planners and the engineering teams to ensure that environmental deliverable timescales are built into the delivery and handover schedules and risk is understood.
7. Lead the team in effectively managing relevant commercial and contractual communications (TQs, EWs, EIs, CEs etc.) associated with area of responsibility with suppliers and client
8. Ensure that the schedule for reporting is adhered to whilst ensuring environmental deliverables demonstrate compliance with applicable legislation, industry best practice and HS2 technical requirements.
9. Assist with the implementation of BS EN ISO14001 certification and audit against the standard and internal procedures.
10. Work in collaboration with the wider environmental delivery team, client, designers, community, stakeholder and public relations managers to ensure the programme is achieved.
11. Relationship owner and focal point for the client’s geotechnical subject matter experts to enable a productive and collaborative working relationship within the discipline.
12. Lead by example and promote good practice relating to environmental management & sustainability, sharing best practice and learning.

Key Skills and qualifications
13. Degree-level qualification in engineering/ environment or another relevant field.
14. Experience in a technical/design environmental field.
15. Chartered (e.g. CEnv MCIEEM) professional qualification desired
16. Extensive knowledge across a broad range of environmental areas including ecology, landscaping, hydrogeology, EMR compliance and consenting with statutory bodies.
17. Strong stakeholder management skills with experience of influencing and negotiating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and the ability to extract key points and communicate this to others.
18. Ability to lead and manage a team with competing priorities with a focus on what is ‘best-for-project’
19. Management of commercial/contractual aspects of projects with suppliers and client
