Overview
Permanent contract, 8:30am to 5:00pm, 52 weeks per year. To work with the Apprenticeship Manager to deliver a high-quality wood occupation apprenticeship programme including classroom and workshop theory and practical teaching. Onsite (employer based) assessment and reviews in both architectural Joinery and Site Carpentry to all apprentices, meeting Bath College quality expectations and End-Point Assessment criteria to a merit or distinction standard. Manage, review, assess and train a caseload of workplace-based apprentices undertaking Apprenticeships. Ensure that the success rates of apprentices are at or above the level set by the College.

Onsite (employer based) assessment and reviews in both architectural Joinery and Site Carpentry to all apprentices, meeting Bath College quality expectations, that prepares apprentices in knowledge, skills and behaviours meeting industry needs, the Apprenticeship Institute and End-Point Assessment criteria to a merit or distinction standard. Manage, review, assess and train a caseload of apprentices who are based in the workplace and are currently undertaking Apprenticeships. To ensure that the success rates of apprentices are at or above the level set by the College.
Responsibilities
1. To provide induction, assessment, training, coaching, teaching and assessment to apprentices undertaking Apprenticeship Programmes and supporting qualifications.
2. Teach, assess, support, advise and assist apprentices during their training both at college and in the workplace.
3. Deal with queries when supervising apprentices.
4. Participate in the promotional and marketing aspects of the college.
5. Undertake initial assessment of apprentices and assist in apprentice action planning.

2. To create an engaging learning programme that inspires and motivates apprentices to improve their knowledge, skills and behaviours in Site Carpentry.

3. Develop a flexible learning programme that accommodates group delivery and 1:1 delivery, offering a digital learning platform in addition to traditional face-to-face learning opportunities.
4. Deliver knowledge-based learning modules in accordance with the IFA assessment guidelines.
5. Conduct regular assessment of learning through workplace observations and professional discussions.
6. Create bespoke learning plans for each individual apprentice to stretch and challenge their ongoing development.
7. Timely reviews of apprentices progress to ensure progress aligns with individual learning plans and timely achievements.
8. Regular gathering of employer feedback to ensure satisfaction levels are high and apprentice engagement is maintained.
9. Ongoing curriculum review to ensure it is innovative and impactful.
10. Work with the Functional Skills Team to ensure functional English, Maths and ICT are embedded into the curriculum, enabling upskilling in all key areas.
11. Use the college e-portfolio system to evidence and log all learning interventions, demonstrating ongoing progress for each apprentice throughout their programme duration.
12. Deliver in accordance with the standard operating model, ensuring compliance with ESFA funding guidelines.
13. Prepare apprentices for their End Point Assessment, conducting mock assessments to ensure readiness.
14. Work with college and internal IQA to establish and ensure high-quality internal pre-gateway and qualification checks are carried out regularly.
15. Maintain accurate records of apprentice assessments and achievements.
16. Accredit successful completion of apprentice tasks including work-based activities in line with college assessment and verification policy, completing all related administrative activities.
17. Ensure effective delivery of work-based assessment and monitoring/target setting within the area of competence.
Qualifications
* Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE) or equivalent, and Qualified to NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, in a carpentry/joinery discipline.
* Assessor to demonstrate a commitment to complete the TAQA Assessor Award within a 12-month period.
* Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
* Full UK Driving Licence and use of own vehicle.
