Contract Information
Contract 1 (COOF32) – Fixed Term until 31 March 2027 – 35 hours per week. Flexible working is encouraged.
Contract 2 (COO14) – Permanent – 35 hours per week. Flexible working is encouraged.
Salary: £28,662 per annum plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid and flexible working.
Location: Manchester or Cambridge (hybrid; 1–2 on‑site days per week).
Assistant Roles
We are seeking to appoint two Assistant roles. Applicants will be considered for both; state any preference.
Roles Overview
* Capital Assistant, Music Hubs (COOF32): provides administrative assistance and support to the Music Hub Investment team, specifically the administration of the DfE’s £25million capital investment in musical instruments for Music Hubs.
* Assistant, Music Hubs (COO14): provides administrative assistance and support across the Music Hub team and programme.
Shared Role Details
Assist Senior Officers, Senior Managers and Directors, service and event‑manage internal and external business meetings, co‑ordinate agendas and papers, take notes and follow‑up on actions, support cross‑team working groups and committees.
Carry out small research tasks, prepare briefings, gather and disseminate information, run administrative support systems: workload planning, data entry, record filing and archiving.
Support administrative procedures: raise purchase orders and contracts, produce budget reports, review information and process payments.
Monitor the Music Hub inbox and act as first point of contact, respond to queries, liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Plan, prioritise and commit to work beyond daily responsibilities; contribute to areas outside the core remit.
Organise, develop processes and systems to support effective administration within the team.
Occasionally travel to other Arts Council locations and funded organisations.

Specific Role Details and Key Relationships
Capital Assistant
Work specifically on the DfE’s capital investment in musical instruments for Music Hubs. Knowledge and experience of grant management and capital projects desirable but not essential.
Collaborate with the Music Education team, Chief Operating Officer’s team, investment and risk colleagues, the Assistant for the Music Hubs programme and the wider network of Assistants at Arts Council.
Assistant, Music Hubs
Provide personal assistance to the Director, Music Education, including coordinating meetings, arranging travel and briefing.
Collaborate closely with the Assistant (Arts & Culture) supporting the Children & Young People team and the Music Education team; and work with the COO’s team.
