Healthcare Support Worker

We are currently recruiting a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker, 23hours a week, to be part of our team at Pershore Community Hospital, which hasan inpatient ward with 26 beds. The candidate will work closely with themultidisciplinary team (MDT) to achieve specific rehabilitation goals. Thiswill be a challenging and exciting opportunity and will enable the individualto develop new and existing skills.
Pershore Community Hospital plays a critical role in the deliveryof local NHS services, providing more care and treatment closer to peopleshomes. Emphasis is to reduce length of stay whilst ensuring excellent carewhich is safe, effective, personalised and compassionate and to the standardsyou would expect for your family and friends.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of a healthcare support worker are: -
Assist withadmitting patients to the ward and the care of their relatives.
Undertake clinical procedures following assessment ofcompetencies by
qualified senior members of staff.
Carry out delegated nursing care.
Provide safe and effective care.
Identifies areas for the improvement.
Assist patients with attending to the activities of dailyliving and
support the therapy team with the rehabilitation of the patient.
Assist patients to sit up or out forbreakfast.
Serve and prepare meals/breakfast anddrinks, help to assist patients
when required. Complete appropriate paperworki.e food diaries and
Assist patients with morning personalcare and dressing.
Mobilise patients using correctmobility equipment when
required/liaise with physiotherapy team.
Liaise with nursing staff forinformation regarding Observations,
catheters, lab samples, blood sugarmonitoring, dressings and further
Carry out patient weekly assessmentswhich involve weighing, clean
and check mattress, catheter bag change whenrequired.
Stores to be restocked daily.
Assist patients with toileting.
Assist to support patients to bed/attach catheter night bags when
required.
Comply with policies and procedures of the ward.

Person Specification
Experience
* Working with adults in a care setting.
* Nursing experience within the NHS / Hospital Setting.
* Experience of working in general medicine or rehabilitation.
Additional Criteria
* Common sense.
* Empathetic caring nature.
* Punctual.
* Reliable.
* I understand that the Trust will not provide sponsorship to work for this role, and employment on a time limited visa doesn't guarantee sponsorship at point of expiry.
* Willingness to undertake further training.
Qualifications
* Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE Grade A-C, NVQ2) in Care or A good standard of general education to GCSE level and will be expected to undertake the relevant Level 2 qualification on appointment to post
* Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust.
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Knowledge
* Basic knowledge of nursing adults and / or training.
* Basic IT Skills.
