Learning Support Assistant (Full Time, Term Time Only) Location: New Forest Area – Dibden Site Start Date: Immediate or September (subject to DBS clearance) A specialist school supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join their team at the Dibden site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a positive impact on young lives through strong academic support and effective behaviour management. About the School: The school provides a nurturing and structured environment tailored to children who require additional emotional and social support to access their education fully. Pupils often face complex behavioural and emotional challenges, and the school’s focus is on fostering resilience, confidence, and academic progress in a safe and supportive setting. Role Overview: The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils’ learning and behaviour, ensuring they can engage positively in the classroom. The role requires patience, understanding, and a firm but compassionate approach to behaviour management. Strong academic support skills are essential to help pupils meet their educational targets and develop key skills. Key Responsibilities: Assist in delivering personalised learning support to children with SEMH needs Implement behaviour management strategies consistently and effectively Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing alongside their academic progress Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to create an inclusive learning environment Monitor and report on pupil progress and behaviour Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times Requirements: Experience supporting children with SEMH needs is highly desirable Strong academic and behaviour management skills A current DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to obtain one at own cost Ability to work full time, Monday to Friday, term time only Commitment to the school’s ethos and values Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Benefits: Supportive and dedicated team environment Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives Full-time, term-time role offering work-life balance How to Apply: Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, please upload an up to date CV.
