Role: CNC MachinistLocation: BristolSalary: Up to £40,000 depending on experienceHours: 07:30 - 16:45 Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 12:30 Friday. with potential for overtimeOur client is looking for a skilled CNC Machinist / Operator / Programmer to join their manufacturing team. You will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating FANUC controlled CNC machines, using Fusion 360 or similar CAM software to produce high-precision components.This is a hands-on role covering the full machining process-from interpreting engineering drawings through to producing finished, quality-assured parts.Responsibilities include:CNC ProgrammingCreate, modify, and optimise CNC programs using Fusion 360 or similar CAM softwareInterpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D modelsSelect tooling, cutting strategies, speeds, and feedsGenerate tool paths for CNC milling and/or turningPost-process programs for FANUC controlled machinesSimulate tool paths to ensure accuracy and prevent collisionsImprove cycle times, tool life, and surface finish through optimisationMachine Setup & OperationSet up CNC machines including tooling, fixtures, and offsetsLoad and verify CNC programsSet and align work holding devices (vices, chucks, fixtures)Produce and check first-off parts, adjusting where requiredOperate CNC machines during production runsTroubleshoot machining, programming, and tooling issuesQuality & DocumentationCarry out in-process inspections using precision measuring toolsEnsure parts meet dimensional and tolerance requirementsComplete setup sheets, program notes, and inspection recordsMaintain accurate program and revision controlSkills and ExperienceLevel 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering / CNC Machining OR strong industry experienceProven experience with FANUC CNC machinesExperience using Fusion 360 or similar CAM softwareAbility to read engineering drawings and GD&TExperience with 4- or 5-axis machiningKnowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 environmentsBackground in aerospace, automotive, defence, medical, or precision engineeringWR Engineering are the #1 recruitment partner for engineering, manufacturing & technical sales jobs.
