Job Title: Principal Software Engineer – x8
Location: Cowes – We offer flexible working arrangements; please speak to your recruiter about options for this role.
Salary: Up to £68,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
1. Derive and maintain software requirements from system requirements.
2. Develop and maintain software designs to meet requirements.
3. Conduct peer reviews and verification of solutions across Maritime Services.
4. Review, verify, and authorize software engineering designs.
5. Act as an engineering technical lead at a sub-system level.
6. Maintain software solutions addressing defects and adding functionalities.
7. Support skill and competency development within teams.
8. Create or assist in producing software estimates for sub-systems.
Your skills and experiences:
1. Experience with at least one high-level programming language.
2. Knowledge of high-level design methodologies and UML.
3. Experience with the software lifecycle and models like Waterfall and Agile.
4. BEng/BSc in Computer Science or relevant engineering/science discipline.
5. Familiarity with software standards such as ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207.
6. Knowledge of Ada95.
7. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it.
8. Understanding of configuration management and tools.
9. Knowledge of model-based techniques is advantageous.
