Location: Catmose, Oakham, Rutland, United Kingdom - The applicant must we willing to attend and present a planning committee meetings usually once a month on a Tuesday evening. The role will also involve undertaking site visits, so access to transport and flexibility to travel within the area is essential. An initial induction will be provided at the office to introduce internal systems and processes. Following this, the officer will be able to work remotely for the majority of the week. Office space is available should they prefer to work on-site more regularly.

Contract Length: 12 weeks - We are seeking to appoint a Principal Planning Officer on a temporary basis for an initial period of three months.

• We are looking for someone who can contribute immediately and maintain momentum on key applications during this transitional period.
• Experience of working in an office environment
• Good knowledge of local government procedures and practices
• Good understanding of current planning issues and legislation
• Extensive knowledge of planning policy regulations and processes.
• Knowledge of the Neighbourhood Planning process
• Experience of negotiating and monitoring Section 106 agreements
• Experience of public speaking/presentation on planning matters
• Experience of working with Elected Members
• Experience of giving planning evidence at hearings/inquiries
• Demonstrates evidence of providing a high level of professional advice to customers, colleagues and Elected Members.
• Competently represents the Council at Committees, Tribunals, Appeals, Courts and /or hearings and Examination in Public.
• Able to demonstrate ability to lead on specific projects and /or major development schemes.
