What’s the Opportunity
We are expanding our Construction Health and Safety Team into a Compliance Team, including a Building Regulations Principal Designer. This role has been created following recent changes in the construction industry related to the Building Safety Act.
We work across the UK with a diverse range of clients in sectors such as residential, commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and more.

As a Building Regulations Principal Designer, you will be a key team member within a multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy, contributing to project success and compliance with the Building Safety Act and current regulations.
This role suits someone capable of working independently and collaboratively on projects across the UK, primarily in the Midlands and North, with travel as needed.
You will work on varied projects, including high-rise housing, healthcare, educational, industrial, infrastructure, and specialized projects that require a Building Regulations Principal Designer.
Key Responsibilities
1. Offer advice on the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.
2. Review designs and undertake plan checks for compliance and approval submissions.
3. Attend meetings with clients and design teams to provide professional regulatory advice.
4. Provide technical guidance to clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
5. Ensure project designs comply with current legislation and regulations.
6. Inspect properties at key design stages.
7. Maintain high standards of project output.
8. Identify and escalate new business opportunities.
9. Develop and grow a network of contacts.
10. Maintain high technical and commercial standards, delivering value to clients.
11. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including reports and trackers.
12. Contribute to bid submissions and fee proposals under supervision.
13. Identify new work opportunities and maintain client relationships.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Degree in a construction-related field, preferably design, or equivalent practical experience.
2. Experience managing multiple projects.
3. Understanding of the design and construction process, including property inspections.
4. Expertise in Building Regulations and associated legislation.
5. Excellent client-facing skills.
6. Membership in RICS, CABE, or CIOB.
7. Active CPD record.
8. Proficiency with SharePoint and related technologies.
