Children's and Young Peoples Advocate
Role and responsibilities
* Provide independent advocacy to care experienced children and young people, Children in Need, children and young people going through child protection processes, and homeless young people.
* Empower children and young people accessing services to ensure their rights are respected and their voices are heard.
* Represent the views, wishes and needs of children and young people, helping them navigate the system during challenging times.
* Manage a caseload as a key worker for specific individuals; advise, represent their views, write reports, and take a person-centred approach to preparation and monitoring of plans.
Role details
* Part-time Advocate role (7.4 hours) with additional hours available as needed.
* Based in Southend with travel to meet young people in the community, attend meetings, promotional work, and other commitments within Barnardo’s and Southend.
* Home-based post with travel costs reimbursed for in-person meetings.
Organisation and team
The post works as part of a dynamic small team of advocates within the Advocacy and Independent Visitor Service in Southend.
