Are you at the beginning of your journey to train as a Clinical Psychologist? Do you already have some experience in a support or care role and want more opportunity to work alongside a clinical team, delivering evidence-based behavioural and therapeutic interventions? If so, we are inviting suitable candidates to apply for a number of exciting new roles at our specialist education service for Autistic individuals – Beechwood College.
The role of Behaviour Support Coordinator is integral to our delivery of truly person-centred, evidence-based approaches for all of our students. You will be responsible for ensuring that all areas within Beechwood College have continual access to a staff member dedicated to ensuring adherence to person-centred plans (including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans) and promoting a focus on person-centred outcomes across the service. You will work either in our education team or on one of our residential homes attached to the college, primarily in a support worker role. Additionally, you will have specific shifts weekly or bi-weekly dedicated to clinical work, which includes reviewing PBS plans, conducting observations, carrying out psychometric outcome measures, interviewing students/staff, functional analyses, audits, service evaluations, supporting therapeutic interventions, and co-facilitating CBT group therapy. You will collaborate with the clinical team, including our Clinical Psychologist, under supervision from an assistant psychologist. Opportunities for clinically relevant training and managing your own behavioural support caseload will be available. You will embody the clinical psychology ethos, serving as a guide and advisor for staff, working with structured support plans, and promoting positive changes in students’ lives.
To succeed in this role, you should have an interest in and commitment to clinical psychology. Awareness of current policy agendas related to person-centred practice, values-based practice, and reducing restrictive interventions is important. Experience working with people with Autism, learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, and positive behaviour support is advantageous.
This development role aims to support early-career individuals to progress onto postgraduate clinical training or related professional careers. We promote a culture of continuous learning and supervision.
Please note: The residential Behaviour Support Coordinator role includes a shift pattern – Day/Night and weekend 12-hour shifts.
