This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established engineering consultancy working on a diverse portfolio of development planning projects across the UK. You’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team providing expert input on transport, drainage, and flood risk for residential, commercial, education, and infrastructure schemes.
About the Role:
You’ll work closely with planners, architects, developers, and local authorities to deliver high-quality Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Flood Risk Assessments, and Drainage Strategies. The role combines analytical, design, and client-facing responsibilities, giving you the chance to influence projects from feasibility through to planning submission.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Flood Risk Assessments, and Drainage Strategies
* Use software tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage to produce preliminary highway and drainage designs
* Contribute to technical analysis and report writing to support planning applications
* Liaise with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to coordinate project delivery
* Attend meetings, consultations, and presentations as required
* Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians
* Support the Project Manager in ensuring deliverables meet time, quality, and budget targets
* Proactively support business development by building relationships and identifying new opportunities
About You:
* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography, or a related discipline
* Minimum of 1–2 years’ post-graduate experience in a similar role
* Strong technical writing and data analysis skills
* Confident using AutoCAD and other relevant design or analytical software
* Excellent understanding of transport, drainage, and flood risk guidance at local and national levels
* Capable of producing preliminary engineering designs for highway and drainage schemes
* Comfortable engaging with clients, consultants, and local authorities
* Member (or working toward membership) of a professional institution such as CIHT, TPS, CILT, or ICE
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide when required
Software Exposure:
