Staines Swimming Club, based in the Borough of Spelthorne, is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Head Coach who has the skills and experience to lead and build on the Club's current successes and to continue to grow the Club.
Responsibility
The Head Coach of Staines Swimming Club is the central figure driving the success, safety, and growth of our Club. They are responsible for leading and managing the swimming programme including:
* Planning training sessions
* Overseeing teachers and coaches
* Providing leadership and motivation to swimmers, coaches, and volunteers to help swimmers reach their full potential.
* Designing and implementing training programmes to improve technique, conditioning, and performance for swimmers at all levels.
* Organising and attending swim meets, coordinating team selections, and supporting swimmers during competitions.
* Actively encouraging members to take part in competitions and putting effective processes in place to monitor and understand the reasons for changes in participation levels.
* Supervising assistant coaches and teachers, conducting staff meetings, and fostering coach development to maintain high coaching standards.
* Working effectively with the Committee to achieve the Club’s mission and goals
* Monitoring swimmers’ progress and coordinating swimmer transition within the squad structure (in conjunction with the other squad coaches), and relaying information to relevant committee members in a timely manner.
* Overseeing administrative tasks such as attendance records, meet registrations and communication with swimmers’ parents and guardians.
* Maintaining ethical standards and a safe training environment, enforcing discipline, and promoting a positive, enjoyable atmosphere for swimmers.
Qualifications and skills:
* Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate or ASA Level 2 Coaching Award as a minimum
* Self-motivated with the ability to coach, mentor and motivate others.
* Proven record of developing swimmers and experience in coaching to at least regional level, with a personal competitive swimming background.
* High levels of technical knowledge across all strokes, and racing starts and turns
* An understanding of the different requirements of sprinters, middle-distance and distance swimmers and the creativity to implement specific training to those needs, whilst balancing the overall session.
* Flexibility to provide cover for other coaches at short notice.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
* IT literacy
