The Role
With significant investment planned in all UK&I businesses to transform, deliver new digital services to the business' customers, streamline, and automate our business processes, whilst ensuring the continued stability and performance of the legacy platforms. This is an opportunity for an experienced Principal Engineer to join the Engineering Leadership team, to help lead delivery of the digital roadmap, develop people and capabilities, and help set engineering strategy to drive improvements across all teams.
The focus is on building out the Single Digital Platform, centered around Salesforce, but involving a significant .NET estate and use of Azure services.
What You'll Be Doing
* Define, design, and communicate complex IT solutions across various technology platforms.
* Lead engineering teams, be hands-on to set best practices, ensure correct designs and implementations, and take ownership of delivery outcomes according to the product roadmap.
* Inspire excellence within teams and promote employee engagement, performance, and wellbeing.
* Assess new technology solutions to meet business needs.
* Ensure non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, resilience, and compliance are met.
* Encourage collaboration and product ownership among developers and testers.
* Ensure secure, quality, and tested code activity is prioritized.
* Improve and implement the SDLC processes.
* Support delivery teams in a multi-vendor environment.
* Enhance core DORA metrics and optimize system and process flow.
What You'll Bring
* Proven experience in building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
* Expertise in at least one of Azure/.NET or Salesforce ecosystems; experience in both is preferred.
* Experience designing and delivering complex solutions within budget and timelines, accountable for outcomes.
* Experience managing application estates that handle high volumes and deliver critical business value, preferably in financial services.
* Strong stakeholder management skills across various business domains.
* Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and their business benefits.
* Ability to translate business strategy into technical solutions and requirements into design.
* Experience working in Agile environments and understanding of full SDLC flow.
* Experience in a product-centric organization is a plus.
