The Box’s mission is to be a social space for art, people and ideas with learning, participation and artistic excellence at its heart. We are a new hybrid cultural organisation – part museum, gallery and archive.
This dynamic senior management role is central to the development of our audience-focused programmes. From championing socially engaged practice at The Box and transforming how we work with artists, communities, visitors and partners to overseeing the development and delivery of high-quality provision for schools and teachers, this role is fast-paced and exciting.
We’re looking for a creative thinker who has significant experience working in learning and engagement in a museum, archive or gallery context, including developing and delivering sector-leading practice. As The Box’s most senior member of staff in this area, you will have the opportunity to provide leadership and direction within the organisation and beyond. Collaboration is central to this role, and we are also particularly interested in candidates who will relish the opportunity to work with the wider team, promoting increased use of The Box collections, democratising access and supporting their innovative use in exhibitions, projects and wider programmes. We want The Box to generate local pride, promote public participation and become nationally known and locally loved. Following more than five years of critically acclaimed programming, we are hungry to grow our audiences and reputation and reimagine what a new hybrid cultural organisation can be in the 21 st century. So, if you are full of ideas and skilled at sharing them, we would love to hear from you.
This role is suitable for flexible working subject to the needs of the service.
