Title:
DG BOSS: Carpenter (FN)
* Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Site Supervisor / Superintendent.
* Performs miscellaneous maintenance/repair on the structural and architectural elements of facilities and structures using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.
* Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
* Repairs/replaces windows, doors, walls, ceilings, floors, stairs etc. in a workmanlike manner.
* Fits and installs prefabricated windows, doors, and cabinets to replace existing. Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools.
* Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
* Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
* Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
* Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
* Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
* Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
* Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
* Fill cracks and other defects in plaster or plasterboard and sand patch, using patching plaster, trowel, and sanding tool.
* Apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls.
* Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
* Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
* Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
* Performs other duties and activities as directed.
Basic Qualifications
* Must be able to read, interpret blueprints and design and follow engineering drawings, specifications and instructions.
* Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, bending, standing, climbing or walking.
* Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment.
* Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.
* Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
* Must have a valid Professional Driver's License with at least Restriction Code 2.
Preferred Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING:
* Carpentry certification/s is required.
EDUCATION:
* Must be at least High School, Vocational or Technical course Graduate.
EXPERIENCE:
* Shall have at least three (3) years' experience in construction and carpentry trades.
